Universal Brake

The 3rd generation brake is lighter and stronger with vertical as well as horizontal and angular adjustments. The brake fits all new V2 roller skis. The brake can be adjusted to fit almost any binding position and shoe size. The brake folds over the binding when not in use and when the brake is raised, a spring loaded plunger engages the brake so it can only be moved backwards for braking. A high-tension spring keeps the brake in position. When adjusted properly, the brake does not touch the leg until you adopt the braking position. When initially adjusting the brake, use the “macro” adjustment. When you have found the best location, install the safety screw. Any additional changes can be made with the upper “micro” adjustment. When braking, the brake foot is pushed forward of the other foot by about 0.45 metres (18”) and then you simply push the knee back. This Telemark braking position is also the most stable position for braking as the forward leg acts like a brace and keeps you from falling forward as you decelerate.
